with Barossa Valley guest winemaker Ron Liebich
Gourmet Six Course Dinner with Networking Event
Location: John F Arcotel, Berlin-Mitte (newly opened)

On Thursday 10th September, we will present a six-course dinner with winemaker Ron Liebich, owner of the legendary Liebich Winery in the Barossa Valley. Ron has chosen a selection of five limited “The Darkie” Shiraz vintages and special aperitif and dessert wines for the presentation.

The dinner will be held at the newly opened John F Arcotel located next-door to the Auswaertiges Amt in Berlin-Mitte. We will begin at 19.30 with a Barossa Riesling aperitif served in the Presidential Suite of the Hotel. We will then enjoy a six-course gourmet dinner in the Foreign Affairs Restaurant with the following five vintages of “The Darkie” Shiraz.

“The Darkie” is creating worldwide interest for its complex, intense, almost sticky fruit flavours and is highly rated each year by wine writers Robert Parker and James Halliday. The single-vineyard wine is sourced from a 40-acre block not far from the winery shed, planted by Clarence Walter “Darkie” Liebich 40 years ago.

    1996 vintage
Classic Barossa style from an excellent season with great fruit weight, slightly stewed flavours and a peppery finish, a top quality example out of the decade.
Ostrich Satay, Macadamia Dip, Coconut Jelly

    2001 vintage
Rich and fuller bodied with magnificent mouth feel. Tight tannins grip well but are nicely balanced with woody notes and fruit sweetness, an exceptional vintage!
    Sardinian Porcini Gnocchi, Shaved Parmesan

    2003 vintage
A warm season resulting in a richer, riper and fuller body. The lingering sweet fruity palate is perfectly integrated with the oak and high alcohol levels.
Oriental Spiced Red Mullet, Eggplant Confit

    2004 vintage
Delicious complex nose with delicate hints of mint and floral notes all counter-balanced with extremely well-integrated velvety tannins aged for two years in barrel.
    Chilled Cauliflower Foam Soup

    2005 vintage
Warm and dry vintage, full of mulberry and plum aromas with powerful youthful tannins, well balanced with a warm finish and persistent stewed fruit flavours.
Black Olive Crusted Filet of Beef, Veal Compote

Double Chocolate Mudcake with Coconut Jelly and Cranberries will be served at the lobby bar with the Liebich 2004 Vintage Fortified Shiraz. An exceptional finish to the event to accompany our after-dinner networking.
