Mitton International Wines Celler - Oranienburger Strasse

This was a casual event in which all newsletter subscribers and club vivanova members were invited. Bradley Mitton was the host and a range of red and white wines, suited to the Christmas season were opened and tasted. The tasting was also a nice occasion for guests and members chat about past events and the up and coming "Single Malt Whiskey" evening in Januray 2006.

Club vivanova members who attended this event each received a complimentary wine, the 1996 Geoff Weaver Chardonnay, a very special wine from South Australia.

Australian Wine and Dine Concert
Grand Intercontinental Berlin

 


Join us for our most exciting culinary event to date yet in conjunction with the Grand Intercontinental Hotel Berlin, the Australian Embassy and Club Vivanova.

The Grand Intercontinental Hotel will be hosting an Australian food and wine promotion showcasing our wines from Yanmah Ridge, Western Australia from 14th to 19th November. The highlight of this culinary week will be an "Australian Wine and Dine Concert" on 16th November.

Renowned Australian Chef Craig Penlington will be flying in from Switzerland as a guest chef for the promotion and we will have guests of honour present including Her Excellency Pamela Fayle, the Australian Ambassador and Western Australian Agent General Noel Ashcroft.

Sallyann and Peter Nicholas, owners and winemakers at the Yanmah Ridge winery, Manjimup, Western Australia will be flying in especially for the promotion to present their boutique products, which are successfully listed at a number of five star hotels and restaurants in Germany.

The outstanding Tankstream Quartet from Sydney will entertain at the event. International prizewinners in the Premio Paolo Borciani, Osaka and Melbourne Chamber Music Competitions, they have rapidly emerged as the outstanding performing ensemble of the younger generation of Australian chamber music.

Tickets are priced at special rate of EUR 58 per person (EUR 48 for Club Vivanova members and Grand Intercontinental privilege club members). Please book by faxing the Event Information Form back to the hotel.

Weinbar Rutz & Quartz Reef Winery
wine tasting with Rudi Bauer

We would like to invite you to a New Zealand wine tasting event at Weinbar Rutz in Berlin-Mitte on Tuesday 18th October, from 7pm to 9pm. Our guest speaker will be Rudi Bauer, chief winemaker at the Quartz Reef Winery based in Otago, New Zealand. Our guest of honour will be His Excellency New Zealand Ambassador Peter Hamilton.

Quartz Reef applies the proven winemaking talents of Austrian-born Rudi Bauer, who continues to enjoy and explore the Pinot Noir's many dimensions, and the convergence of the old and the new wine worlds.

The 2003 Pinot Noir has been very well received and was described as "youthful with complex characters and smooth ripe tannins and great cellaring potential".

In co-operation with Club Vivanova and Mitton International Wines, we would like to invite you to an evening of premium Victorian wines and exquisite Polynesian cuisine in the Mai Tai Bar of the Trader Vic's Restaurant in the Hilton Berlin. Renowned Australian winemaker Neill Robb, owner of the Hundred Tree Hill and Sally's Paddock winery will be visiting Berlin to present the event. John Langtry, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Australian Embassy Berlin and the Hilton Berlin General Manager Gunthi Katzenmaier will be our guests of honour.

A special tasting area will be set-up where you may experience the wines of
Neill Robb with full explanations by the winemaker himself. The Hundred Tree Hill wines are grown and produced at the Redbank Winery in the Pyrenees region of Victoria, Australia. During the tasting, we will experience various appetizer items that compliment
the wines from Trader Vic's exquisite Polynesian menu.

We would like to invite you to our "Body Painting and Wine" event in Berlin-Mitte on Wednesday 21st September at 19.30. In association with Club Vivanova and U-books, we will host an Australian wine tasting with the launch of an erotic 2006 wine calendar.

To give the evening some extra spice, we will have some models at the event. The models will be professionally body-painted by media artist Gabriele Dannenberg in the style of the calendar (see link below). We will also have press and television coverage for local and national exposure of this unique occasion.

Wines to be served during the evening will be from our Riverina producers, Mancini. The Mancini wines are quality Australian wines, produced exclusively by Alepat Taylor. The Mancini range was created predominantly for the restaurant and bar trade, when it was noticed that there was a need for a better quality and better presented range of wines on the market. The wines are produced with fruit exclusively from the Riverina region of New South Wales. Available for tasting will be:

Mancini Classic Dry White 2002,
Mancini Chardonnay 2004,
Mancini Cabernet Merlot 2003 and the
Mancini Shiraz Cabernet 2002.

A hot and cold appetiser buffet will be served during the event, which begins at
19.30. The models will be available for photographing with guests after they have been painted.

Spree Cruise and Tasmanian Wine Tasting
at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel Köpenick

Imagine cruising down the Spree on a summer's evening, enjoying some of the best wines that Australia can offer, partaking in a Tasmanian wine tasting and then dining from an oriental barbecue on a wonderful riverside verandah. Dream no further, our next Vivanova event on Thursday 25th August is offering you just that experience!

  Our Spree cruise begins at 18.00 from the quayside of the Berliner
Dom-Hackesher Markt in Mitte, where we will begin the evening with a Tasmanian wine tasting. Renowned winemaker Gerald Ellis of the Meadowbank Estate Winery will present his wines to us as we cruise through Berlin on an open topped (with covered dining area) and cosy cruise boat, the "Blue Star". (We are delighted that Gerald is flying in especially for our cruise!). We will have the chance to taste the Meadowbank Chardonnay 2004 and Pinot Noir 2003 with a tutored seminar.

The cruise will take us out to Koepenick and at 20.00, we will be dropped at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel Koepenick, where we will indulge in a wonderful Oriental barbecue buffet on their riverside terrace including grilled turkey, pork, chicken and salads. We will also be serving fresh New Zealand oysters compliments of Flying Seafood Denmark www.flyingseafood.dk. Complimentary sparkling wine, white and red wine, soft drinks and Apollinaris water will be served with the barbecue.  

At 22.30, a coach will transfer us all back to the original pick-up point at the Berliner Dom-Hackesher Markt Mitte, where we should arrive at 23.00.
Imagine that! A wonderful cruise through Berlin, a tutored premium wine tasting and then a barbecue in Koepenick at a quality location, plus we bring you all the way home safely!

Tickets will cost EUR 48 per person (EUR 35 for Vivanova members) and are available by reservation only, bookings will be limited to sixty.

In conjunction with Club Vivanova and yourART Store Berlin, we would like to invite you to a summer cooking class and wine evening on Thursday 14th July at 19.00.

The evening will incorporate a one hour cooking demonstration with American Chef Megan Wycoff who will prepare four summer salad side dishes perfect for your barbecues. The demo will take place in the Mitton International Wines cellar where a sparkling wine aperitif will be served. Full preparation of the following dishes will be demonstrated with recipe cards for taking home.

Couscous Salad with Mint, Cucumbers and Tomatoes
Lentil and Bell Pepper Salad
Potato, Avocado and Cress Salad
Fruit Salad with Mint, Lime and Honey Dressing

After the demonstration, we will move upstairs to the yourART Store studio where we will be given a tour of this new generation art store whilst sampling the dishes produced during the demonstration. There will also be a wine tasting of three lovely summer Australian and New Zealand wines:

Mitton International Wines, together with the Prinzalbert Hotel in Berlin-Mitte invite you to a relaxing Summer Wine Party and networking event with live entertainment. We will be tasting a number of summer-style wines from the Riverina wine region of Australia including the popular Mancini and Echidna wines.

The event will run from 18.00 until late with the wine tasting taking place from 19.00 to 22.00. Stylish entertainment will be provided by Australia's "The Cheap Suits" who perform alternative rock, country and blues. A magnificent antipasti buffet with outdoor barbecue will be served during the tasting.

Tickets will cost EUR 22 per person (EUR 15 for Club Vivanova members) and will include a full barbecue dinner buffet with six wines and entertainment.

The Prinzalbert Hotel is located at Veteranen Strasse 12, 10119 Berlin-Mitte (5 minute walk from the Rosenthaler Platz U-Bahn station, next to the beautiful Weinbergspark).
